Pick a topic that you know you will concern yourself for the next 5 years. This way, you are dedicated and knowledgeable in the subject regardless of your interests in website building.
Once you know the subject you are going to cover, write down 10 issues that concern your topic, and write articles on them. Why do you ask? Since building and maintaing internet sites is a tedious process, you will this way whether you have the patience to commit to a long term. Write one article daily, instead of writing all articles on day one. As time passes, you get used to committing yourself to your website.
